Spring Psychotherapy

Therapeutic Approach

I’m Jo, I’m a CBT Therapist fully accredited by the BABCP, I’m passionate about helping people break free of the patterns that hold them back or that are causing them pain.

One of my core values is connection – and this is reflected in so much of the feedback I get from clients – in therapy you will be listened to, understood, we will work on things together and you will feel my support every step of the way.

The difficulties bringing you to therapy aren’t random. They make complete sense in the context of your history – the experiences you had, the environment you grew up in, the things you learned (consciously or not) about yourself and the world.

My job is to help you see that context clearly and compassionately, and to help you to change what needs changing.

In addition to CBT, I have undertaken specialist further training in Schema Therapy, EMDR and Compassion Focused Therapy – this means I have the toolkit to flexibly address the problems you’re coming with.

I offer some online appointments if they help my clients who need flexibility, but I personally think there is no replacement for seeing someone in person, in my therapy room. I think it enhances our connection, it is a place for you, free of interruptions where you can work on things in a deeper way.

You can find more information about each of the main therapeutic approaches I use below, and if you’d simply like to have a chat about how therapy could help you, I’d love to hear from you.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical and goal-oriented therapy designed to help people identify and change thought patterns and behaviours that are contributing to distress and keeping them stuck.

Schema Informed Therapy

Schema Informed Therapy is an integrative approach that draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, attachment theory, and other therapeutic models to address deeper emotional wounds.

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) is an approach designed to help people work through difficult emotions, particularly shame, self-criticism, and low self-esteem.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful therapy designed to help individuals process and heal from trauma.
