If you have started looking into therapy options/googling, it’s likely that the time is right for therapy, in fact many people wish that they’d picked up the phone sooner. If you are experiencing repeated emotional problems that are interfering with your day-to-day life and/or relationships then therapy could be of benefit.
How many sessions will I need?
This completely depends on the problems you would like help with and the level of complexity. Often people are surprised by how quickly they can make changes and start to feel better, for some 5-10 sessions are all that’s needed. For others, especially if they would like to work on early trauma experiences and consequential difficulties in their relationship with themselves and others, 20-30 sessions may be required.
When and where do you offer therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions take place in my therapy room in central Knutsford, Cheshire. I work Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm.
How regularly will the sessions take place?
I usually encourage clients to have weekly sessions to begin with, a lot of learning and insights can be gained in those early sessions so it is great if we can keep some momentum. Once a client feels that thing are moving the right direction it can be helpful to drop to every two weeks or once a month towards the end of therapy, this gives people time to experiment with and practice ideas from the sessions, whilst still having space and support to consider any challenges they’ve encountered or to celebrate their successes!
How long will each session last?
Each session will last between 50 minutes and 1hour.
Can I have sessions online?
I prefer to see people in person wherever possible, however, I can and do offer online sessions if a client needs this for flexibility.
Will you contact my GP?
I do not routinely contact anyone’s GP unless they specifically request this.
What is a professional body?
There are various professional bodies in existence that regulate therapy services in the UK. This means that it’s members have reached minimum requirements and standards set by their professional body including training and experience, participation in on-going professional development and clinical supervision, and that they must abide by their code of ethics. The professional body for CBT therapists is The British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). It is imperative that anyone claiming to offer CBT has met the standards of the BABCP.
Who do you work with?
I work with adults age 18 years and over on an individual basis. I do not offer therapy for children, teenagers or couples.
How do I arrange an appointment?
Please send me a call back request by email or text message. I will then reply to organise a time for an initial 10-15 minute call about the problem(s) you are experiencing and how therapy sessions could help. We can then go ahead and arrange a first appointment.
Can I use my health insurance to pay for the sessions?
Yes, I am a recognised provider with all of the main health insurance companies in the UK including Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality and WPA.
